Ozarts Mission

This is a new column that will be the source of information for Ozarts Center for the Arts, The Grand View Hotel, and art, which is what the first two subjects are all about. This will allow a great amount of room for discussion for many subjects, because our dream is that Ozarts and The Grand View together will become a gateway for artists of every medium.

Initially I will be trying to get some questions answered about what we’re doing over here on the beautiful Berryville square. Based on feed back I’ve received, thus far, there is still a lot of confusion on what exactly Ozarts Center for the Arts is. Ozarts is an artist portal at present and will become an educational facility for high tech animation programs and film post production. We will also produce CDs, Music Videos, and an original television series. This will be an open format production that will rotate writers, directors, D.P.s, set designers, actors, and all others, with a road of progress, leading to director and producer of episodes.

Ozarts Gallery is now open in the front of the center at 108 East Madison Avenue. We invite all medium of Artist to stop by with a prof sheet, pictures, or portfolios. Musicians, if you have CDs you would like sold through the gallery, please stop by during our regular business hours, or put a CD through the mail slot.

At Ozarts we are not editors. We do not try to interpret what art is. The one editorial right we reserve is that we will not produce or sell anything we believe encourages hate, or racism. For those of you who have the internet you can get more information at Ozarts.org. For those of you who don’t the following is Ozarts Center for the Arts Mission Statement.

OZARTS

Center for the Arts

To make digital production facilities available to artists in a cooperative environment. Where production decisions are based on the merit of the project and the artists involved. Artists who contribute their time to help other projects be completed will get help with their projects when they’re ready. They will also gain experience from working on other projects to better understand what they need for their own.

To Serve as a real, and digital place, for artists to meet, exchange ideas, and help each other achieve their artistic goals.

To offer training in digital production, animation, music recording, and post production editing and sound.

To promote locally produced television programming in the Ozarks.

To promote the film, video, animation, and music recording industries in the Ozarks, through training and original productions.

To record local musicians and act as a heritage foundation for Ozark Mountain Music. To find, preserve, and re-release recordings of Ozark music and story tellers.

To assist in the renovation of the historic Grand View Hotel, and it’s associated commercial spaces, to help in the revitalization of the Berryville Public square.

To offer at least one humanities grant per year, to the persons, institution, or project, deemed exceptional in the advancement of humanity, through art, action, or deed.

We are presently an Arkansas Non-Profit Corporation and seeking our federal status. Anyone interested in sending letters of support, or groups who would like to send a single letter with multiple signatures, for our application, please send them to the gallery. They will be greatly appreciated.

We now have previewed videos and DVDs for sale in the gallery and we are accepting donations of videos, DVDs, and CDs, to sell in the gallery. Clean up your closets and bookshelves and help Ozarts. We have also begun to carry some very nice jewelry by a local artist which is both inviting and economical. Please come by and give us a browse. All profits from the gallery go towards Ozarts Center for the Arts.

I’ll have more details for you next week. Please feel free to send my your questions by mail, or email. I will do my best to incorporate answers in future columns.
