The Grand View Hotel

EMPLOYMENT  INFORMATION

The Grand View will have a number of positions opening up over the next two years. It is my goal that the Grand View be a rewarding place to work. I will do my best to find health care for long term employees. Personally I have worked independent contractor jobs since I left the navy, in 83, and have not had health care since and don't have it now. It will be a mission to not only achieve this for myself, but for every employee of the Grand View. I will absolutely make the promise, that anyone who approaches their job with respect, will be treated with respect. My goal is this: that no employee will ever slide sideways. If you leave us voluntarily, it will be for a better job, we can't offer you, and you will go with my blessing. The Grand View will also be obnoxiously fair: hard work begets reward. • Position Filled Handy Person and laborer: If you are skilled in drywall, basic plumbing, painting etc., but don't have your contractors license and insurance and would like a long term hourly wage job, at 40 hours a week, please submit your resume via email. This position will require some heavy lifting, so you must be in fit shape. Hourly wage will be negotiated and there will be performance based bonuses. If we can find someone to fill this position we will also be hiring a laborer. The laborer position will be tied in with the handyman position. If we don't find a handyman that fits our needs, we won't be hiring a laborer. Catch 22 for the unskilled, but hard working soul. It's either two or nothing so the laborer position opens if we find the right handyperson.

  • Coffee Master: All coffee shop positions will not be open until we have the first floor ready for business (3-6 months minimum). The position has managerial prospects and is long term employment opportunity, with growth potential, and profit sharing. Finalist will have to come to a show down, prepared to make coffee, espresso, and latte for a panel of experts who hold absolutely no credentials.

  • Counter/Wait Staff: All coffee shop positions will not be open until we have the first floor ready for business (3-6 months minimum). It's hard to define what this is going to be, because the Grand View is opening in stages. Initially we will not be open as a full restaurant, it will be counter and buss work, with the dishwasher handling the bus work. These will be hourly wage jobs, because we are opening as a counter service bakery/coffee shop. As in, there will be a tip jar, but the seed money you put in, in the morning, may be the only tips all day, and don't over seed, they'll think you're overpaid. If things progress nicely and we open a full restaurant, the prime jobs will be offered to in-house, prior to outside offerings.

  • Kitchen Staff: We have our baker, but we will need a busser/dishwasher. This is an open ended job for someone willing to train for greater things.

  • There will be other jobs opening up, as things progress over the next two years, but as the business plan is a living, breathing, thing, the definitions of these jobs, will have to wait until they are closer at hand. If you would like to be informed of positions as they open up, use the above email link and request to be updated for job openings.
