About Ozarts
Ozarts will be a place of learning and
expanding horizons. There will be a path to getting your
production realized, it doesn’t matter if your dream is a 30
sec tribute to your mom, or a feature length Anime, that uses
every single resource that Ozarts, and myself, as it’s primary
patron, can muster.
I will seek to accredit the program through
the state to make it eligible for financial aide. Ozarts will
refuse no one for financial reasons and will seek to grow to the
size of the need rather than limit access. Ozarts will also use
money from production royalties to give grants and equipment to
deserving students. My goal is to make a true open house of
learning, where the only thing a student needs to succeed, is an
honest desire to learn and excel.
What you have to do to produce a project will
evolve with the program and the resources available. There’s
going to be a first in, first chance policy, but if you’re
ready to burn up the track, learning and helping others, and you’re
willing to do the work to meet the administrative requirements
for getting a shooting schedule, then you will be able to
accelerate your process.
Essentially to produce a project, you will
have to complete the film course that will be both class room and
self taught, this will include training in production and post
production. You will have to work through all the grunt level
production jobs, including assistant camera, sound, lighting,
PA, etc. working
on other productions. You must submit, a full break down of the
project, to get final project approval. To reserve a shooting
date, you will have to have crew lists, actors assembled,
shooting schedule, shot list break down, and locations secured.
To gain access to equipment you will have to
complete the appropriate formal training for that equipment.
Acceptance into the program is based on merit, the list of
candidates will be based on no other grounds. Once on that list,
a student can lock in a seat if they have the financial means to
pay tuition. This is a fact of life for the Ozarts. Money equals
more equipment. More equipment equals more opportunity. Students who are accepted, but do not get a seat, will be kept
in a waiting pool should space arise, and will be given priority
attention if they reapply, the next time the selection process
opens up.
Persistence, diligence, and respect for others
are the currencies to buy your way into Ozarts. Not having official
student status does not preclude one from volunteering to help
on projects being produced at Ozarts. This is also a back door
to the school, access to individual mentor training, from the
primaries on a project, can also lead to equipment and project
access.
In short, the goal of Ozarts is to teach as
many people as want to be taught, and complete as many
productions as can be made, with the equipment and resources at the
disposal of Ozarts.
